At Curington Homes, we believe building a custom home should be an exciting and seamless journey. With our proven process, we guide you every step of the way, from the first consultation to handing over the keys to your dream home. Here’s what you can expect when partnering with us:

1. Design Phase: Turning Ideas into Plans

Your custom home journey begins with a vision.

Whether in person or over the phone, our first step is to understand your lifestyle, goals, and budget. This is where we get to know each other and lay the foundation for a successful partnership.

Once we agree to move forward, we secure a deposit to kick off the design phase. This commitment allows us to invest time in crafting personalized floor plans, specifications, and pricing details tailored to your vision.

With our in-house design team—including drafting technicians and designers—you’ll create a floor plan that fits your needs. Together, we refine details, choose finishes, and explore upgrades from our Designer Specification Series. Most of our clients personalize their homes with additional features to make it uniquely theirs.

We assess your property with surveys, soil testing, and grading to ensure everything is accounted for. If you haven’t found the perfect site yet, we can help you locate one that fits your goals and budget.

After the design is complete, we estimate costs and present a detailed contract, including your additional features. Once approved, we move into the pre-construction phase.

2. Pre-Construction Phase: Preparing for Success

This phase is where your vision takes shape behind the scenes.

Work closely with our designer to finalize cabinets, flooring, countertops, appliances, and more. Through guided visits to vendor locations and Buildertrend, our online portal, you’ll easily track and approve selections to stay on schedule.

We review finalized construction plans with you to address any last-minute changes before submitting them for engineering and permitting.

Your approved plans are signed and sealed by an engineer, then submitted to local permitting offices. While permits are in progress, we work on pre-construction tasks like material ordering to keep everything moving forward.

3. Construction Phase: Building Your Dream Home

Now it’s time to see your home come to life.

Once permits are approved, we prepare your site by clearing land, leveling, and laying the foundation.

From framing to final finishes, our team works to meet your exact specifications. You’ll have access to Buildertrend for progress updates, photos, and schedules. Your site superintendent will be your go-to contact for field questions and updates.

Participate in a detailed electrical and plumbing walkthrough to finalize outlet locations, fixture placements, and more. If any changes arise, we handle them through organized change orders.

Before closing, we conduct a thorough walkthrough and address any last touch-ups. Once everything meets our high-quality standards, you’ll receive the keys to your new home!

Walkthroughs and Adjustments

Participate in a detailed electrical and plumbing walkthrough to finalize outlet locations, fixture placements, and more. If any changes arise, we handle them through organized change orders.

Final Walkthrough and Move-In

Before closing, we conduct a thorough walkthrough and address any last touch-ups. Once everything meets our high-quality standards, you’ll receive the keys to your new home!
